Route Planning Analyst - Northlake, IL, Frisco, TX, Holland, MI, Des Moines, IA
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Route Planning Analyst to join our routing operations team. This role is responsible for balancing, optimizing, and maintaining efficient routes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services. The Route Planning Analyst will collaborate with route planning, operations, and sales teams to implement changes, identify cost-saving opportunities, and prepare reports to support business decisions. Staying up-to-date on industry trends is also essential. The ideal candidate will leverage data analytics, mapping tools, and logistics software to enhance route performance and support strategic decision-making.
Shift and Schedule
- Monday-Friday
- 1st shift
- Flexibility to work weekends as needed dependent on business needs
Position Responsibilities:
- Analyze routing data to develop and optimize sales and delivery routes.
- Utilize route planning software to model and simulate routing scenarios while maintaining master schedule sessions for daily and weekly balance (e.g. Incorporate new customers, analyze change requests, improve efficiencies, etc.)
- Monitor route performance metrics such as delivery time, fuel efficiency, and cost per mile.
- Collaborate with planners, drivers, and logistics managers to implement route changes and resolve operational issues.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements through route optimization.
- Prepare reports and dashboards to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and technologies related to transportation and logistics.
- Support business workflows for Change Requests (SMART forms), Delivery Override Requests, Routing Support requests and adhere to SLA’s
- Assist with customer data maintenance for Time windows, Service times, Geocodes, etc.
Seasonal/ad hoc responsibilities:
- Provide vacation coverage support for Routing Supervisor and Route Planners as needed
- Develop and coordinate holiday plans for Sales and Delivery schedules, send calendars and coordinate with sales/distribution teams, maintain schedules using standard templates, and ensure seamless uploads to support the holiday calendar
Total Rewards:
- $46,600 - $80,745 / year
- Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors

Requirements:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) with 3 years of routing/logistics experience OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and 1 year of routing/logistics experience
- 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel (proficient with pivot tables, lookups)
- 1 year of experience with SAP or a similar system
- 2 years of experience with Descartes Route Planner or similar routing software
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time
