Job Overview:

The VP of Internal Audit manages global internal audits and SOX compliance for a large publicly traded US company. Reporting to the Audit Committee Chair and administratively to the CFO, this role oversees risk-based audits, manages all aspects of the Company’s SOX program and compliance efforts, and leads a high-performing team focused on continuous improvement and staff development.

Position Overview

The CAE oversees audit, SOX, and compliance strategy and execution, offering independent assurance on governance, risk, and controls. They advise leadership and ensure professional standards.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Audit Committee Chair (functional)
  • Reports to CFO (administrative)
  • Interacts regularly with the controller, other senior executives, and external auditors

Key Responsibilities

  • SOX & Compliance: Lead the SOX compliance program, manage ICFR evaluation programs, build upon the audit, SOX, and compliance teams' ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders, and proactively adapt to business process/IT system and regulatory requirements changes.
  • Audit: Develop multi-year audit plans, lead global audits, report findings, monitor action plans, and ensure adherence to IIA standards.
  • IT Audit: Oversee IT audits covering controls, cybersecurity, privacy, and technology risks; align with broader risk frameworks.
  • Governance & Advisory: Advise on governance, risk, compliance, fraud, ethics, and process improvements; support the Audit Committee.
  • Leadership: Build and lead diverse global audit, SOX, and compliance teams, develop talent, manage external partners, and foster continuous improvement.

Total Rewards:
  • Salary Range: $218,800 - $310,000
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors
  • Benefits, subject to election and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Paid Time Off (including paid parental leave, vacation, and sick time), 401k with company match, Tuition Reimbursement, and Mileage Reimbursement
  • Annual bonus based on performance and eligibility

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or master’s preferred.
  • Professional certifications (CIA, CPA, CA, CISA) preferred.
  • 15+ years’ experience in audit, SOX, and compliance, ideally in large multinational consumer products environments.
  • Expertise in leading both SOX and audit process and IT teams, coordinating with the audit committee, and managing highly engaged teams.

Skills

  • Strong business acumen, strategic mindset, communication, influence, integrity, and operational focus. Experience as a controller is a plus.

Position Location and Travel

  • This role will be located in Frisco, TX, and involve both domestic and limited international travel.
